Behold!
The image file is a stunning success - touch features included.
However, the HDMI output freezes after the drivers load...the last line on the console being
[ 5.030943] fbtft_of_value: fps = 30
So in order to further configure my RPi, I will have to use the screen as my only visual feedback - no biggie as installing RDP will be the first thing I do, then, hopefully, I'll be all right.
This is the only image I've found that works on my RPi 2, and I've tried 2 or 3 others.
So although I have no HDMI output after the boot process(well, I DO, but it's a frozen console screen), THIS WORKS! Anyone having trouble reading this note this well.
Also, just to recall, you may need a download manager to get the image.
Once you have the image, you're good to experiment. If you trash it, just burn the image again.
Thanks for this forum Mark Williams. It has been the only one that did me any good...

Good news, though - I got a download manager to get the image successfully. Just made sure it unzipped, and I'll check it out later - so don't trouble yourself with the mirror on my behalf, though I appreciate it greatly. Although I would imagine others might be having the same problem.
So thanks for your effort, and I'll report back on use of the image.
Thanks.

You were my only hope, Obi-wan Kanobi!March 19, 2015 at 11:00 am #3710zlotParticipantWhen I reinstalled the drivers by re-doing the manual method it no longer worked. So I am waiting for some good advice, otherwise I will just start over with a clean Raspian image, NOT plug it in to an HDMI "just to see what will happen," and proceed with the instructions on getting it to show the desktop....
March 19, 2015 at 5:00 am #3708zlotParticipantI hope you can help me out.
My situation is similar to what's been described.
In my case, I got as far as the black screen(a good thing), but foolishly decided to plug in the HDMI "to see what would happen...."
Dumbass.
It seemed to basically wipe out all the previous work.
NO config.txt,
NO the other file, whatever it was
Gone.
Did some limited stuff - still all gone.I'm going to start from step 1 and see if that works(haven't done yet.)
If that doesn't work, go to backup img of O/S close to up to that point.
Not a complete dumbass, anyway. This is what I am doing unless you can give me some better advice.
BTW, before I screwed it all up, I tried the tests and was not able to see the image - I am working on the RPI via RDP - that may also have something to do with it.Also - and this would be a HUGE help - is there any alternative way to download the image file....I keep trying, but it never completes, even though I appear to have it....it's always short. If you're so inclined, I could send you a link to one drive, or something similar, or if you could get me FTP access, or a torrent, or anything you can come up with. I've been Googling for days to no avail. This Ozzmaker site is the only thing I've come across that even begins to work for me.
Once I get the black screen again, I WILL NOT FOOL with it, but go on to the next step of getting it to show the desktop, like it's supposed to do in the first place. OR, hopefully, the IMG file will have done all that for me....I hope to eventually find out.
Thank you much in advance for whatever you can come up with....
